Our Farm

Is Certified Organic and much more! We grow more than 40 varieties of vegetables. We extend our growing season using geothermal energy and a wood-fired heat siphon to warm our green houses. We keep bees. We regenerate the land with native plantings and cover crops. We’ll soon be home to farm mammals and birds. Oh, and we also grow hops for River St. Joe, an on-site farmhouse brewery!

At Flatwater Farms, we strive to innovate and to sustainably produce high quality and nutritious food in a way that enhances the community and regenerates the earth.

Our Story

What happens when a family’s passion for plants converges with a love for the water on a beautiful plot of earth in Southwest Michigan?

Who We Are

Flatwater Farms is a community and a family. Meet the people who put down the roots and who plant the seeds.

About Farmer Marc

Marc gardened as a child and was inspired by his friend’s family’s small farms. After college, in 2007, Marc thought he would farm for 2 weeks while he looked for other work, and to his own surprise, farming has been his profession since. He is inspired by the need to slow erosion and to keep our water clean. The connections of agriculture to community and to the environment surprise and fascinate him. He is drawn to the outdoor lifestyle, the need to invent, innovate, and produce nutritious food for the customer that enhances the environment, while providing a stable living for the farmer.
